Service Description
**Growing Pains: Athlete Edition** Growing Pains: Athlete Edition is an interactive class designed to help young athletes and their parents better understand common growth-related aches and pains. Whether your athlete is experiencing knee pain, heel pain, recurring soreness, or has been diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatter disease, Sever's disease, or another overuse-related condition, this session provides practical information and simple strategies you can use immediately. At New Direction Wellness and PT, we believe many young athletes don't need complicated treatment plans, endless exercise programs, or months away from sports. More often, they need a better understanding of what is happening, why it is happening, and how to manage it effectively. This class focuses on helping athletes and parents understand the body's signals rather than fear them. Participants will learn how growth, activity, recovery, and movement habits can influence symptoms and performance while gaining practical tools to stay active and confident. Topics may include: • Understanding Osgood-Schlatter disease, Sever's disease, and other common growth-related conditions • Why growing athletes often experience aches and pains • Recognizing the difference between soreness, irritation, and more significant concerns • Simple strategies to reduce flare-ups and improve recovery • Practical exercises and movement strategies that can be performed at home • Staying active while managing symptoms • Building confidence and resilience during growth spurts Parents are encouraged to attend alongside their athlete. The goal is to provide families with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to navigate these common challenges independently. Whether your athlete plays organized sports or simply enjoys being active, this session offers a common-sense approach to helping growing bodies move better, recover more effectively, and continue doing the activities they love.
